New London County
Weather Net

Calling the New London County Weather Net. Calling the New London County
Weather Net this is ..........., my name is .........., I am located in ............., .....
and I will be net control for this session of the New London County Weather
Net. When checking in please give your call-sign and location only. This is a directed A.R.E.S. net and all amateurs are invited to participate. Stations with emergency or priority traffic may break the net at any time. You do not need weather instrumentation to be a valuable part of this net. When severe weather occurs your eyes and ears often serve as the best instruments. Please note that the word Skywarn will only be used to identify the net when a National Weather Service activation has been requested or authorized. Before we continue are there any stations needing the frequency for emergency or priority traffic only? Please check-in now.

When providing your local weather observations for the training net, please use the following format. First give your current temperature. Then indicate your sky condition, followed by the wind speed and direction. Then indicate if your currently having precipitation followed by your current barometric pressure. Finally you may pass any miscellaneous information you feel may be of interest, such as, high and low temperatures of the day, relative humidity, dew point, rainfall totals for the month, etc. This is ...... net control for the New London County Weather Net. Any mobiles, portables, or stations on emergency power please check-in at this time, including your present location.

1. Invite stations who are mobile or on emergency power to check in,
then acknowledge them one by one and take there weather data or comments.
repeat this procedure a time or two until you feel all mobile and emergency powered stations have had a chance to check-in.

2. Call for bulletins or announcements or stations with training information for the net. Then acknowledge these stations one-by-one and take their weather data and announcements they may have.

3. General check-ins. Remind people that all amateurs are welcome on the
net with or with out weather data. Take a list of check-ins then go through the list one-by-one taking weather data and comments or questions. Repeat this process several times being certain that all stations have an opportunity to check-in.

4. Complete any net business. Handle any net questions or topics that came up for discussion. As N.C.S. it's your job to see that the net continues in an organized fashion, give everyone an opportunity to speak. Go through the list of check-ins a second time for follow-up comments and discussions. You may use your own creativity if you have an idea for a presentation or something special you would like to bring to the net.

5. Remind stations that the first Wednesday of each month is emergency
power night.

Emergency Power Night

The first Wednesday of each month is emergency power night. Invite all amateurs to check into the net and indicate if they are on emergency or commercial power. All those that can use emergency power are encouraged
to do so, but all stations are welcome. Provide additional time during the net for stations who wish to conduct test using alternative power sources or antennas. Then conduct the rest of the net as normal.
