AMERICAN RED CROSS DISASTER SERVICES
HIGH FREQUENCY (HF) RADIO COMMUNICATIONS

The New London Chapter House of the American Red Cross recently received
a CLUB Radio Station License and is now listed with the Federal
Communications Commission as KB1DJO

A weekly radio NET is conducted Wednesday evenings at 2000hrs EST on
frequency 3.915MHz in the 75meter band and again at 2100hrs on frequency
14.325MHz in the 20meter band.

Valuable information is repeated each week on the business of
Communications and Disaster Relief. This informational program provides interest, learning, and on the air experience. Net practice sessions serve as continuing training of operating discipline for volunteer radio operators.

This High Frequency Radio NET serves to benefit the emergency response
communications network team when called upon in time of actual civil
disaster by providing the means for testing operability of equipment that
would normally be made available to the American Red Cross during an
actual event.

If anyone of our listeners is interested in learning more about the
American Red Cross and its activities you may call Sue Rochester, Director of
Disaster Relief Services at 860-447-3248 or write to 150 Eugene O’Neill
Drive, New London Connecticut 06320.

NET Control Operator is Frank Geluso - AA1QY, Manager of High Frequency
Operations

Connecticut ARES E-Mail Reflector

Hi folks:

The Connecticut Section ARES E-Mail reflector is now operational. To
subscribe, use your browser to go the this web site:
http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/ConnARES. If you do not have web
access or have problems, send an E-Mail message to me
(WA1D.Darrow@snet.net) or to Joe K1IKE (joecheck@snet.net) and we will
add you to the subscription list.

The purpose of the ConnARES E-Mail reflector is for amateurs in CT to
inform others in CT about anything ARES/SKYWARN related. This includes,
but is not limited to, weather warnings, upcoming ARES/SKYWARN nets,
upcoming ARES/SKYWARN drills, questions regarding ARES/SYKWARN or
anything alse related to ARES or SKYWARN in CT. Remember, everything you
post should be considered public information.

As we get this reflector going, we plan to add rosters, ECs, DECs etc.
and make this information available to all. We'll keep you informed.

Please forward this message to anyone you think may be interested and I
apologize if I missed someone. My ARES/SKYWARN e-mail distribution list
is still VERY limited.

As always, any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks to Joe, K1IKE for suggesting setting this reflector up and for
his help in creating the reflector.

Thanks & 73
Darrow Loucks, WA1D
