100% SIDEPLATES:   1919A4/A6

We spare no effort or expense to produce the highest quality, most comprehensive semi-auto, 100% complete right side plate money can buy. We start with .250 thick Aircraft Quality (AQ) 4130 steel. This steel is made to tighter specs than commercial grade steel. Each plate is laser profiled on a Trumph 4000 series laser, an enormous machine costing almost a million dollars. The profiling includes charging handle slot cut to mil-spec size. Then the outside surface of each plate is surface ground with no grinding marks visible whatsoever. We make the inside, raised semi- auto rib full length, from trunion to backplate. Besides pleasing aesthetics, a full length rib makes the plate stronger. We next CNC machine all slots and holes. The holes are cut to exactly mil-spec, being made with ground to size end mills instead of drills and reamers. Each plate is also 100%, fully deburred by hand. This includes all holes, all slots, inside and outside charging handle edges, and inside/outside plate edges.

After deburring, the rear 1" - 2" of each plate is heat treated to mil-specs of 43-49Rc. The rest of the plate is treated to 23-28Rc. This figure was arrived at after hardness testing dozens, if not hundreds, of Izzy and USGI left side plates. During the final tempering process plates are held in a specially made fixture to ensure each plate is as flat as possible. We're able to hold flatness of about .025 end-to-end, per plate.

Each plate is shipped with a certificate of heat treatment and a certificate of testing from the steel manufacturer which verifies you're receiving AQ4130 steel. All in all, ours are the best plates on the market today. Period.

CORRECT BELT SLOT ALIGNMENT

The "step" in the belt feeding slot of our plates is dimensionally correct in it's height and degree of angle, as per mil-spec blueprints. Those same prints state "grind after assembly", with regards to the trunion belt feedway. Therefore, your trunion feedway surface may sit a few thousandths lower than the belt feedway slot of our plates. If so you will need to grind, file, sand and/or stone the mating surfaces flush.
