That question is asked of me at least once a month, as Sysop of the Chalkboard BBS.
Here is some help on how to unzip (decompress) those Zipped files.
There are several ways and twice as many programs that can be used but I will describe what I think is the easiest and most straight forward program available, WinZip32 and WinZip16.
Step one can be skipped but I include it for those people who want to see where there files are coming from and also see what their authors might have as a description.
1.
Open your Web Browser and type in the following URL on the location line..
http://cws.internet.com/32comp.html
(Hit your Enter key or CLICK the above LINK)
2.
Click on the
highlighted link under WinZip for Windows
http://www.winzip.com/downau81.cgi?winzip81.exe
3.
Go to the directory (through Windows explorer/file manager)
the file
winzip81.exe was downloaded in and double click on it.
A setup window will appear, click on the setup button and follow the prompts.
4.
You will be prompted during the setup to choose either Wizard or Classic method.
I prefer the Classic but then I don't click Icons either.
You should try both and see which method you prefer.
5.
Now you can open and install zip files by double clicking on them
through Windows Explorer (file manager) or by hitting the Start button
on the Win 95 toolbar, select "Programs", then "Winzip".
Hope this helps,![]()
