The Historic Society opens John Bishop Museum for tours during special events.
Lisbon Central School fifth graders study early American cooking
at the hearth in the John Bishop house kitchen. The menu included bread pudding,
baked chicken, pan-dripped baked potatoes and apple pie. Coals are place in the bake oven
to heat it, and water is brushed on the sides to keep the food moist. |

The Bishop house has a fireplace hearth in the basement too. There is swinging bar for a large caldron that was used during butchering and making soap. The lower chimney supports the six fireplaces above it. |
Historic Displays | The Three Bs, Bishop, Brown, and Bradlaw, display had photos and artifacts from the lives of the three families who lived in the John Bishop Museum. Lighting Up Lisbon and Health and Hygiene during the 1800s also focused on Lisbon's heritage. | ![]() |
